grabbed this shot in the woods near alamoosook lake late this afternoon. these snow shots always seem to work better when converted to b&w. yes, i know its a bit cliche, but i went with it anyway. i like the comparison between this image, with its definition and contrast, and yesterday’s soft, surreal quality.

nice view of the “business end” of the two belgian draft horses pulling our sleigh through the woods around the mount washington hotel in n.h. denise and i just returned from a short get-away to one of our favorite places. not bucksport, but the horses did spend this past summer pulling carriages around acadia! we were the honored first sleigh riders of the season! yes, it was cold.

at about 7AM, a brief break in an early morning light snowfall yielded this open sky and orange sunrise. as winter returns and i struggle to find the time for photographs (day job getting in the way and A LOT less available daylight!), i am re-learning the difficulty of winter photography. my lens finds its way toward the sky more often! guess i just gotta look harder for those ground-based subjects?

a late afternoon visit downtown on the day after black friday provided much needed fodder for this photo blog. rosens is “good to go” for the holiday season, as are a few other main street retailers. will share a few more in the coming days. time to play that non-stop christmas music!
